A Nahe Spätlese Marked by Concentration and Elegance

The Estate

Founded in 1750 in Oberhausen an der Nahe, Weingut Dönnhoff stands as a global benchmark for German Riesling. The estate farms 25 hectares of vineyards, planted mainly to Riesling, on the steep slopes of the Nahe. Helmut Dönnhoff, at the helm since 1971, elevated the property to the ranks of the greatest wine estates. His son Cornelius now carries on this excellence, regularly named among Germany’s best winemakers. The emblematic Hermannshöhle and Höllenpfad parcels produce wines of crystalline minerality, a pure expression of unique slate and schist terroirs.

The Vineyard

The Hermannshöhle vineyard is a legendary site in the Nahe, recognized for more than a century as the region’s most prestigious. Planted on a steep, south-facing slope, the terroir is characterized by dark gray slate soils, lending remarkable mineral richness. Over 70 years old, the vines—among the oldest on the estate—produce limited yields. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand with selective picking, ensuring optimal grape quality.

Winemaking and Aging

The Riesling Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Spätlese 2022 is vinified and aged to preserve aromatic purity and fruit freshness. This approach allows the wine to faithfully express the exceptional mineral characteristics of its schist terroir.

Grape Variety

This German wine is 100% Riesling.
