A Burgundy Red wine Combining Richness and Vivacity
The Estate
If the history of the Bichot family dates back to 1214, it was in 1350 that it settled in Burgundy. The négociant house created in Monthélie in 1831 under the leadership of Bernard Bichot experienced a spectacular rise during the 19th century, notably becoming the official supplier to the Court of Sweden. As an independent family-owned company, Albert Bichot is among the great names that mark the wine landscape and the reputation of Burgundy wines. Today, the 6th generation has been running the company since 1996, harmoniously blending modernity with family tradition.
The House of Albert Bichot now oversees more than 100 hectares of vineyards, spread from northern to southern Burgundy and grouped into six prestigious estates: the Domaine Long-Depaquit, located in Chablis in the Yonne; the Domaine du Clos-Frantin and Château Gris, both in Nuits-Saint-Georges; and the Domaine du Pavillon in Pommard. Dedicated to Mercurey wines, the Domaine Adélie was acquired by Albert Bichot in 2013. The estate bears this name in honor of Albert Bichot’s daughter, born in 2003, thus perpetuating the family heritage from generation to generation. The very fine vineyard of Domaine de Rochegrès in the Moulin À Vent appellation joined the family enterprise in 2014.
The Vineyard
Located on a plateau behind the famous Côte de Nuits, the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits benefit from maximum sunlight at an altitude of 300 to 400 meters due to exposures ranging from south to east.
This Hautes-Côtes de Nuits “Les Dames Huguettes” 2020 from Albert Bichot comes from a rigorous selection of vineyards among the finest terroirs of the appellation. Benefiting from an ideal exposure, these vines planted on clay-limestone soils give rise to a Burgundy wine that seduces with minerality and freshness.
Vinification and Aging
Vinification lasts 18 to 20 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Aging for 12 to 14 months is carried out in tanks (60%) and in oak barrels (40%).
