Displaying a deep ruby ??colour, the Solaia 2011 is a Tuscan (Super Tuscan) that reveals warm aromas - thanks to the vintage indeed! - boasting sunshine. However, the nose is far from lacking any balance or freshness, with a beautifully luscious dark fruitiness offered through a very fresh character. The attack on the palate is tightly gripping, bringing dynamic to the wine and allowing to unfold on the tongue rich red fruits mingled flavours which were already offered by the nose. This wine has a true straightforwardness. The mid-palate is full and shows a dense frame, with a noble and complex grain. We particularly like, in its retro-olfaction, these accents of flowers and lively spices. The Antinori Solaia 2011 remains a charismatic Tuscan wine that will need be expected until 2017 to fully appreciate the brightness of the fruit, of course keeping in mind it is able to age for at least twenty years.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
I'm not fully convinced by the 2011 Solaia. It is a hedonistic and heady expression for sure, but it doesn't come near the 97 points I awarded the 2010 vintage. In fact, the bouquet here is very ripe with thick tones of strawberry and blackberry folded within tobacco, leather and sweet spice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc offer flavors of rum cake and candied fruit. There's a good amount of tannic firmness surrounded by thick extract and fleshiness.
