Description
A creamy and structured Brunello di Montalcino wine
From its name evoking the Roman god Janus to its history shared over the course of the centuries with many noble families, Argiano treads cheerfully across the ages without ceasing to conquer the hearts of the most ardent wine-lovers.
Today, Bernadino Sani oversees this precious Tuscan vineyard planted mostly with Sangiovese but also grape varieties that are typical of Bordeaux, and which pays great attention to the mosaic of terroirs that make up Argiano. To react to the vine and respect it, organic and regenerative agriculture is practiced and the wines are vinified in the most natural way possible.
The vineyard
This Argiano cuvée is a Brunello di Montalcino wine made from vines aged between 10 and 50 years old, located between 250 and 280 metres of altitude on soils made up of of clay, pebbles and limestone. With hot, dry summers, this wine-growing area produces wines that are small in quantity but renowned for their depth and aromatic range.
Winemaking and ageing
Once destemmed, the grapes were given a delicate pressing before fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration in stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation in concrete vats. Ageing for a minimum of 24 months in Slavonic oak casks. Once bottling was done without filtration, the wine benefited from an extra 12 months approximately of ageing.
