Description
A Bonnes Mares Grand Cru wine showcasing an alluring power and aromatic expression
The estate
The Bouchard Père & Fils estate was founded in Beaune in 1731. With almost three centuries of history, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest estates in Burgundy. At the head of an exceptional estate in the Côte d'Or, the family’s 9th generation still perpetuates their unique know-how in the art of making fine Burgundian wines.
Built up over the years, the vineyards of Bouchard Père et Fils estate now spread across 130 hectares of vines. Combining prestigious Burgundian appellations and exceptional plots, the Bouchard Père & Fils vineyard owns a truly unique wine heritage.
The vineyard
This Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru Domaine by Bouchard Père & Fils stems from a 0.24-hectare vineyard acquired in 1996. On this east-facing vineyard, the vines are planted on limestone soil composed of pebbles and gravels, resulting in iconic wines among fine Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru wines.
The vinification and ageing
Following the manual harvest, the grapes are sorted and destemmed, either totally or partially, depending on the vintage. Fermentation in small containers is completed by a gentle pressing. Vatting for 18 to 21 days depending on the vintage. Aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels (45 to 60% of which are new) in the Bastion cellars of the historic Château de Beaune.
