The elegance of a Burgundy Chardonnay crafted by Bruno Colin

The estate
Domaine Bruno Colin was officially founded in 2004, following the division of the family vineyard. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, at the heart of Burgundy, this estate is still run today by Bruno Colin himself. This winegrower cultivates a vineyard of around eight to nine hectares spread across prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. The estate's hallmark lies in its ability to produce wines of great precision. It has thus established itself as a benchmark for lovers of great white wines.

The vineyard
This wine comes from a tiny 0.07-hectare plot located on the "Les Demoiselles" climat, within the village of Puligny-Montrachet. This exceptional terroir, nestled in the "Le Cailleret" lieu-dit and adjoining the famous Grand Cru Montrachet, rests on clay-limestone soils. The appellation is extremely confidential, covering only 50 ares shared among four owners. The vines, planted in 2019, are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, with mechanical soil work and ploughing. Harvesting is carried out by hand, accompanied by rigorous sorting directly at the vine.

The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by warm weather conditions in Burgundy. However, the climate remained overall balanced in many sectors, allowing the grapes to reach beautiful maturity while retaining excellent natural freshness.

Winemaking and aging
The crafting of the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Demoiselles" 2022 receives particular attention in the cellar. Ageing first takes place over 12 months in 350-litre barrels, with a proportion of around 15% new oak, a use adjusted to the vintage so as not to mask the terroir's identity. The wine then spends 4 to 6 months in vat before bottling, thereby ensuring the preservation of its grace and purity.

Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
