Description
The balance and elegance of a Tuscan red wine
The estate
Founded in 1968 following the merger of 5 estates, Castellare di Castellina is one of Italy's finest wine producers. Renowned for their quality, the estate's wines derive their uniqueness both from their exceptional terroir and from their label, whose bird represents the estate's deep respect for its surrounding nature.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Chianti region, the vineyard extends over 80 hectares near the small village of Castellina. On the heights of a natural amphitheatre, this terroir planted on clay-limestone soils produces full-bodied, powerful Tuscan wines with great ageing potential.
The wine
Produced since 1999, Poggio ai Merli from Castellare di Castellina stems from vines planted at an altitude of between 350 and 400 metres. Since its first vintage, this cuvée has been recognised as an IGT Toscana wine of excellence and unique elegance.
