Castello Banfi is a family owned vineyard located in the heart of Tuscany. Respectful of traditions and attentive to the needs of the vineyard, the Banfi family is internationally renowned for its excellence in the production of fine Italian red wines. In 1982, Banfi was one of the pioneers regarding the research into cloning the Sangiovese grape variety, with the aim of producing an exceptional Brunello di Montalcino.
Fonte alla Selva 2018 by Castello Banfi comes from vineyards planted on shallow sandy-clay soils.
The year 2018 was marked by a very cold winter which delayed the start of the growing cycle. The summer was hot and rainy.
The vinification and ageing
Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks (25-30°C), as is the ageing process, completed by a short period of ageing in French oak barrels.
The nose elegantly blends fruity fragrances with subtle notes of tobacco and leather.
Full and generous, this wine is seductive due to its structure and balance. The soft and blended tannins provide a delicious persistence throughout the tasting.
For an optimal tasting experience, serve between 16-18°C.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine from Chianti Classico will perfectly complement meat dishes (Chianina, Florentine steak).
