Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Bricco Asili 2023 by Ceretto

Tasting

Colour
This wine reveals a brilliant ruby hue, which takes on subtle garnet highlights over the years.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is deep and piquant. It offers scents of crunchy small berries, blood orange and wild rose, harmoniously intertwined with floral notes reminiscent of rose and violet. With time, hints of sweet spices and undergrowth enrich this complex nose.

Palate
On the palate, this wine combines aromatic lightness with a monumental structure. It shows restraint and precision, supported by pronounced tannins and fine acidity. Everything culminates in a remarkably persistent finish, the true signature of this great cru.

Food and wine pairing
This great red wine pairs beautifully with rich, refined dishes. It will elevate roasted or braised meats and game, as well as Piedmontese specialities such as tajarin with ragù or brasato. It is also an ideal match for dishes featuring Alba white truffle and for aged pressed cheeses.

Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate Bricco Asili 2023, serve it at a temperature of between 16 and 18°C in wide-bowled Burgundy glasses. In its youth, it benefits from aeration, either by decanting or by opening the bottle in advance. Blessed with excellent ageing potential, this vintage can be cellared for a decade or even longer.

The Elegance of a Barbaresco Grand Cru by Ceretto

The estate
Officially founded in 1937 by Riccardo Ceretto, this illustrious house embodies the excellence of Piedmont. The estate's history took a decisive turn in the 1960s thanks to Bruno and Marcello, pioneers in championing the region's local crus. Today, the third generation, represented by the current owners Lisa, Roberta, Alessandro and Federico Ceretto, runs the estate. Renowned internationally and with an identity deeply rooted in the land, the house stands out for its environmental commitment, with vineyards that are fully certified organic and farmed biodynamically, bringing together tradition, art and respect for nature.

The vineyard
This cuvée comes from the Asili additional geographical mention (MGA), a historic terroir located in the commune of Barbaresco. Covering around 1.15 hectares, the vineyard enjoys a privileged position at the top of the hill, offering multiple exposures. The vines are cultivated with the utmost care, in line with organic and biodynamic principles, on soils conducive to slow, balanced ripening of the grapes.

Winemaking and ageing
The grapes destined for Bricco Asili 2023 are vinified separately, plot by plot, in the estate's historic cellar. To allow the terroir to express itself fully, fermentations are started with a pied de cuve made from indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in carefully selected wooden vessels to refine its tannic structure and develop the complexity of this Italian wine, without ever masking its original identity.
