The historic and refined expression of a Premier Cru from Pommard
The estate
Founded in 1720, Maison Champy is the oldest négociant house still active in Burgundy, France. Located in the heart of Beaune, it oversees a 21-hectare vineyard spread across the prestigious Côte de Beaune. A pioneer, the estate has been certified in biodynamic farming since 2006. Now owned by the AdVini S.A. group, Maison Champy continues its historic legacy while blending tradition and modernity to express the authenticity of its terroirs.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the prestigious terroir of Pommard, located on the Côte de Beaune. The plots classified as Premier Cru benefit from an environment conducive to the full expression of the grape variety, cultivated with particular attention to preserving the soil and biodiversity through environmentally responsible farming practices.
The vintage
The year 2007 offered very favourable weather conditions in Burgundy. The growing cycle allowed for a slow and complete ripening of the grapes, resulting in a healthy harvest with generous yields, higher than the average of previous years.
Winemaking and aging
The production of the Pommard 1er Cru "Grands Epenots" 2007 is carried out with meticulous care. Maceration times and extraction methods are precisely adjusted during fermentation to preserve the identity of the terroir without extracting aggressive tannins. The wine then benefits from carefully controlled barrel aging, promoting the harmonious integration of its structure.
