The finesse and smoothness of a Saint-Julien Grand Cru
The Second Grand Cru Classé Château Ducru-Beaucaillou leads the pack as one of the biggest Bordeaux and embodies the excellence and prestige of the Saint-Julien appellation.
Ducru-Beaucaillou has forged a style that distinguishes itself with depth and balance, with a structure the remains at the core of a great Médoc, and with a particular freshness on the finish.
True to the saying that “great terroirs face the water”, nature has been kind to the magnificent Ducru-Beaucaillou vineyard that is ideally located near the Gironde estuary. From a vintage of contrasts, the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2017 is clearly one of the greatest wines from its appellation, which highlights the technical team’s exceptional work. They brilliantly orchestrated the vintage under the guidance of the estate's talented Technical Director Emmanuel Bonneau.
The blend highlights the unmistakable personality of Cabernet Sauvignon (90%), the symbolic black grape of the Left Bank, and the roundness and opulence of Merlot (10%).
The charming Château Ducru Beaucaillou 2017 reveals a dark purple colour. In a sublime elegant freshness, a concentrated bouquet rises up from the glass with blackcurrant, ripe black berry and smoky tobacco notes that are punctuated with sweet spice. With aeration, the aromatic palate becomes even more expressive. In a sumptuous attack of flawlessness and balance, the palate is full of juicy fruit with melted tannins that coat the mouth. With a solid structure, the vintage reveals a length full of shimmering energy and smoothness. A distinguished Ducru-Beaucaillou with amazing finesse that will reveal further splendour with time.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
There was no frost at Ducru-Beaucaillou in 2017 due to its proximity to the estuary. This barrel sample comes from the final blend, which was made in early 2018. Composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot and sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2017 Ducru-Beaucaillou is intensely scented of blackcurrant cordial, blackberries and lavender with hints of crushed rocks, iron ore, rose hips and Provence herbs plus touches of wood smoke and sandalwood. Medium-bodied, very firm and grainy in the mouth, it possesses lovely freshness, lifting the intense flavors, finishing long and minerally. Sporting an incredible core of muscular mid-palate fruit, this wine should age incredibly.
