The silkiness and richness of a Pomerol wine

The estate

The Château La Croix du Casse, located in Bordeaux, was acquired by the Casteja family in 2005, after belonging to the Audy family since 1956. Thanks to an outstanding vineyard and state-of-the-art technical facilities, the estate produces captivating wines, faithful to the elegance and richness characteristic of this prestigious terroir.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Château La Croix du Casse enjoys a privileged position at the southern tip of the Pomerol plateau. The vines thrive on a characteristic terroir of gravel and ancient sands, resting on a subsoil particularly rich in iron pan. This unique geological composition gives the wines their distinctive character and remarkable ageing potential.

The vintage

The year 2024 began with a cold, wet winter, followed by a mild but unpredictable spring. Budburst occurred around 20 March, accompanied by significant rainfall. Flowering took place from mid-May to early June under unstable weather conditions. July saw an improvement, followed by an ideal August, while September remained uncertain.

Vinification and ageing

Parcel-based vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, before ageing for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

Blend

95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
