Description

A rare and exceptional red wine signed Pomerol

The Chateau La Fleur de Gay is located on the small Pomerol appellation, famous worldwide for its very high quality wines with a majority of Merlot. This great name of Bordeaux has been present in Pomerol since the 15th century and rests on an exceptional terroir of only 2 hectares, on the high terrace of Pomerol, worked in parcels. The three terroirs of the property are La Boutonnière, composed of clay in the same vein as Pétrus, Günz gravel with clay subsoil as at Chateau Trotanoy and Le Pin, and finally a thick gravelly hilltop which contributes strongly to the identity of Chateau La Fleur.

Château La Fleur de Gay 2012 is a low yield vintage, 100% Merlot. The hand-picked grapes in crates are sorted in the vat room before alcoholic fermentation and post-fermentation maceration in thermo-regulated cement vats. The wines are then aged in new barrels for 18 months.

With a production of just over 5000 bottles, Château La Fleur de Gay 2012 is a rare wine. It is characterized by a profile of black fruits supported by a precise tannic structure and an acidity bringing freshness to the whole. Drink it until about 2030.
