65 ares (1.61 acres) divided in two lots: one-third in Grand Musigny in the northern sector, two-thirds in the southerly Petit Musigny section. 15% new oak. 8–9 barrels produced. Cask sample. Pale gold. Dry with a quite grippy tannic character. Apple, pear and vineyard peach with a distinct flinty note. A very individual wine with a dry, salty, finish. (MH)

Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the 2023 Musigny Grand Cru from Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé

Tasting Notes

Appearance
The wine reveals a pale yellow hue with bright, golden highlights.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet expresses great purity, combining notes of white-fleshed fruit, citrus and white flowers, underpinned by an elegant minerality and subtle buttery touches.

Palate
The attack is broad and precise. The palate reveals a silky texture and beautiful tension, offering aromas of pear, fresh almond and delicate honey. The finish is persistent, carried by a saline freshness characteristic of its exceptional terroir.

Food and Wine Pairing
This great white wine pairs beautifully with noble shellfish such as lobster or crayfish, fish in creamy sauce, or Bresse poultry with morels.

Serving and Cellaring
For optimal tasting, this wine should be served between 12 and 14°C. With exceptional ageing potential, it can be cellared for many years to reveal its full complexity.

The Excellence of a Great Burgundian Terroir

The Estate
Located in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is a true institution in Burgundy. With origins dating back to the 15th century, this historic estate is renowned for its exceptional vineyard heritage and expertise passed down from generation to generation.

The Vineyard
The estate owns a rare parcel of Chardonnay within the prestigious Musigny Grand Cru. This unique terroir, made up of clay-limestone soils rich in small stones, gives the wine incomparable minerality and elegance.

The Vintage
The year 2023 in Burgundy was marked by favourable weather conditions, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness while retaining a beautiful freshness, essential for the balance of great white wines.

Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes are hand-harvested with rigorous sorting. Vinification is carried out with precision to preserve the purity of the fruit, followed by ageing in French oak barrels that brings complexity and structure without masking the identity of the terroir.

Grape Variety
Chardonnay (100%).
