The estate
In the Côte de Beaune, in Meursault, Domaine du Château de Meursault is one of the legendary wine estates in the Burgundy region. Boasting a century-old history, Domaine du Château de Meursault is a true Burgundian gem and is currently owned by the Halley family.
Domaine du Château de Meursault reigns over an exceptional vineyard in the Côte d'Or, spread over 65 hectares from Puligny-Montrachet to Aloxe-Corton.
The vineyard
This 2018 1er cru "Perrières" by Domaine du Château de Meursault is a Meursault wine made from a 1.1-hectare terroir. The vineyard spreads over two parcels planted on the slopes of the Perrières and rests on hard limestone soil from the Jurassic period.
Vinification and ageing
Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, the berries are slowly and gradually pressed. Following static settling, the must is then placed in oak barrels for alcoholic fermentation. Each parcel is vinified and aged separately to preserve the authentic expression of its original terroir. Each batch is rigorously monitored throughout the vinification process. The wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in oak barrels (35% new oak along with second and third-fill barrels). The barrels are blended before bottling.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
