Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Joseph Faiveley 2022 from Domaine Faiveley
Tasting
Appearance
The glass reveals a brilliant golden hue, enhanced by subtle green reflections typical of its youth, offering beautiful luminosity and great purity.
Nose
Complex and profoundly mineral, the bouquet exudes aromas of citrus, candied lemon and stone fruits, harmoniously intertwined with notes of white flowers and hazelnut. Subtle smoky, stony and woody touches complete the whole.
Palate
Rich and perfectly balanced, the palate seduces with its silky texture and mineral tension. It offers beautiful purity and a linear development, stretching towards a long, vibrant and persistent finish with citrus notes.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with poultry in cream sauce, veal with mushrooms or foie gras. It also enhances seafood such as lobster and crayfish, as well as grilled fish. For cheeses, opt for a goat cheese, a Reblochon or a Brie.
Serving and cellaring
This Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Joseph Faiveley 2022 can be enjoyed now, but its beautiful structure allows it to evolve favourably in the cellar until around 2032.
The mineral precision of a white wine from Puligny-Montrachet
The estate
Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley stands as a true institution in Burgundy. Today led by the seventh generation, represented by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the estate oversees a vast vineyard extending across the most prestigious terroirs of the region. Combining respect for ancestral traditions with a spirit of innovation, the domaine is strongly committed to the environment. Domaine Faiveley is recognised worldwide for the exceptional quality and precision of its wines.
The vineyard
The "La Garenne" climat is an exceptional terroir located within the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Rising to a high altitude on east-facing slopes, this vineyard is distinguished by its shallow, stony soils dominated by brown limestone. These unique geological characteristics grant the grapes remarkable aromatic concentration while preserving beautiful freshness.
The vintage
The 2022 year proved particularly favourable for the production of white wines in France. The weather conditions of this vintage allowed the berries to reach optimal maturity while retaining perfect balance and refreshing acidity.
Winemaking and ageing
To craft the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Joseph Faiveley 2022, the berries undergo rigorous manual sorting before being gravity-fed into wooden vats. After a gentle pressing, the wine benefits from extended ageing in French oak barrels within the estate's historic cellars, thus developing all its complexity.
Grape variety
Chardonnay (100%).
