Description
A generous and delicate Piedmont wine
The estate
The history of the Elio Altare wine estate dates back to 1948, when Joseph Altare acquired 5 hectares of vineyards in La Morra, with the ambition of crafting great Piedmont wines.
Following a trip to Burgundy in 1976, Elio Altare, Joseph’s grandson, gradually ushered in a profound modernization of practices at the estate, both in winemaking and in aging. A major force behind the estate’s renown beyond its borders, Elio Altare produces wines that harmoniously combine elegance, finesse and balance.
The vineyard
Arborina by Elio Altare is a Barolo wine from vineyards planted—one parcel in 1948 and another in 1989—on the historic La Morra site. The vines grow on sandy soils with southern exposure.
Winemaking and aging
Skin maceration for approximately 4 to 5 days. Aged for 24 months in French barriques.
Blend
Elio Altare’s 2021 Arborina is 100% Nebbiolo.
