Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Tournant de Pouilly" Cuvée Hors Classe 2023 by J.-A. Ferret
Tasting
Nose
The bouquet reveals subtle aromas of toasted almonds and linden infusion, enriched by delicate notes of wax.
Palate
Initially discreet and marked by a slight austerity, this cuvée blossoms to become the most elegant and refined of the single-parcel selection. It unfolds a superb chalky texture, sublimated by a finish that is at once fresh, powerful and remarkably persistent.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs ideally with refined fish-based preparations, light shellfish, poultry in cream sauce, or a delicate vegetarian cuisine that highlights natural flavours.
Serving and cellaring
The Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Tournant de Pouilly" Cuvée Hors Classe 2023 has great ageing potential. While it can be enjoyed for its fruit in its youth, its solid mineral structure allows it to evolve favourably in the cellar and be drunk until around 2038.

The estate
Founded in 1840 by Jean-Alfred Ferret, the J.-A. Ferret estate is a leading institution in Burgundy, at the heart of the Mâconnais. A historic pioneer, Jeanne Ferret introduced estate bottling and a rigorous parcel-based classification here. Now owned by Maison Louis Jadot since 2008, the vineyard is led by cellar master Clément Robinet. This prestigious name perpetuates its unique identity across 18.5 hectares of vines, producing wines that express with great purity all the complexity of their terroirs.
The vineyard
This Pouilly-Fuissé wine comes from a historic vineyard of about one hectare, divided into two parcels north of Fuissé, on the edge of the hamlet of Pouilly. North-east facing on a gentle slope, this terroir rests on a deep, stone-free soil composed of silt, clay and pale Dogger marls, very rich in limestone and fossilised oyster shells. The vines, with an average age of over 60 years, were planted in 1955, 1963 and 1964, supplemented by a small 15-are parcel replanted in 2018 after a period of fallow.
Vinification and ageing
To craft the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Tournant de Pouilly" Cuvée Hors Classe 2023, the whole grapes are pressed before beginning their fermentation. Ageing starts in oak barrels for 10 months, with a proportion of 25% new barrels and 75% barrels of one to three wines. The wine then rests for a further 9 months in stainless steel tanks on its fine lees, before bottling scheduled for April 2025.
Grape variety
100% chardonnay.
