Jean Chartron : Corton-Charlemagne Grand cru 2024

The Corton-Charlemagne from Jean Chartron is rich and sturdy, almost massive. With its ripe pear and apple aromas, hints of spice and butter and notable lack of lemony minerality, it is a departure for this cellar, but delicious nonetheless. Unlike previous years, he has relied exclusively on his own tiny 0.1ha parcel in Aloxe without supplementing it with purchased fruit. He presses the whole clusters and settles briefly before ageing in used barrels. Give this time before opening, and it will provide pleasure for years to come.
