Description
A powerful and fruity second wine of the Haut-Médoc
The property
The Château de Camensac keeps itself out of the media spotlight but delivers a quite remarkable production, as do many of the Haut-Médoc on the left bank of Bordeaux. Since 1964 - and the years following the Forner family's move to Château de Camensac - the property has benefited from an extensive renovation plan. Today and since 2005, Château de Camensac is under the management of the Merlaut family.
The vineyard
Located on the edge of the Haut-Médoc appellation and the Saint-Julien, the 25-hectare vineyard is established on sloping gravelly soils. The sub-soils are clay-limestone.
Vinification and maturing
After harvesting, the grapes are transported to stainless steel or concrete vats. After vinification, the wine is transferred to barrels for ageing.
Assemblage
La Closerie de Camensac 2018, the second wine of Château de Camensac, is made from a blend of Merlot supplemented by Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting
