The estate

Man and human activity are central to this estate. Eugenio is at the origin of this viticultural project. It is thanks to his drive, determination and passion that Le Macchiole estate was born. His sudden passing did not put an end to his dream. His wife, Cinzia, with the help of oenologist Luca D'Attoma, decided to continue his adventure. Following years of work and an array of acchievements, the wines are now unanimously praised by critics. The work of this estate takes place mainly in the vineyard. The philosophy is to respect the natural cycles of life. This respect is also reflected in the vinification of these fine Italian wines.

The vineyard

Produced since 1989, Le Macchiole's Paleo is an IGT Toscana wine. Initially made from a classic Bordeaux blend, this wine has been made exclusively from a single variety of grape since 2021. The name of this wine refers to a wild herb that is common in Tuscany.

The vintage

The high rainfall and relatively cool temperature during winter and spring delayed the budding of the vineyard. The combination of milder temperatures at the beginning of May, but still wet weather, led to a rapid development of the vineyard and to mildew pressure. The estate's teams increased their efforts throughout the summer to maintain the vineyard’s healthy condition. The grapes harvested were healthy and showcased a high quality.

Vinification and ageing

Fermentation and maceration for 25 days in concrete tanks. Aged for 18 months in new oak barrels.
