Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Louis Jadot's Bourgogne Blanc "Domaine des Croix Perrières" 2023
Tasting Notes
Appearance
The wine displays a clear, bright colour, revealing a pale yellow hue with lemony highlights.
Nose
Generous and expressive, the aromatic bouquet blends notes of white fruit (pear) and stone fruit (peach, apricot) with delicate touches of white flowers, almond and citrus.
Palate
Ample and fleshy, the palate seduces with its volume, perfectly balanced by a fine, lively acidity. This refreshing tension carries the wine through to a flavourful, particularly mouthwatering finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with fatty fish, seafood or scallops. It also goes wonderfully with delicate poultry, chicken liver terrine, or refined vegetarian dishes.
Serving and Cellaring
Approachable even in its youth, this Bourgogne Blanc "Domaine des Croix Perrières" 2023 can be enjoyed right now and is best drunk by around 2029.
The Distinctive Expression of a White Burgundy from Louis Jadot
The Estate
Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy. Now owned by the American Kopf family and led by Chairman Thomas Seiter, with Thibault Gagey as Managing Director, the house oversees a vast vineyard of around 240 hectares. Stretching from the Chablis area to Beaujolais, the estate stands out for its strong environmental commitment, holding the Haute Valeur Environnementale certification, and its ongoing conversion to organic farming. Combining both négociant and estate-grown activities, the house maintains a precise, minimal-intervention style that respects each terroir.
The Vineyard
Sourced from a single, contiguous plot located in Saint-Désert, in the Côte Chalonnaise, this Bourgogne cuvée comes from one hectare of vines planted midway up the slope. Benefiting from an ideal south-facing exposure for grape ripening, this terroir, historically renowned for its white wines, rests on soils well suited to the grape variety's development. The vineyard is farmed using sustainable practices, without herbicides, favouring soil cultivation, cover cropping and hand harvesting to preserve biodiversity and fruit quality.
The Vintage
The year 2023 was marked by climatic conditions that favoured rapid grape ripening. Characterised by periods of heat that led to a high potential alcohol level, the season also saw a few rainy spells requiring careful vigilance against disease in the vineyards.
Winemaking and Ageing
Harvested relatively early to preserve a lovely tension, the grapes are pressed with great care. The winemaking of the Bourgogne Blanc "Domaine des Croix Perrières" 2023 follows a minimal-intervention approach, relying on indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for around nine months in French oak barrels, mostly used, to add texture and depth without masking the purity of the fruit.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay.
