Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" 2022 by Louis Jadot
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a green-gold hue, both bright and luminous.
Nose
The nose opens with aromas of green apple and peach, enhanced by a delicate mineral note reminiscent of gunpowder.
Palate
Medium-bodied, the palate seduces with its perfect balance between tension and salinity. It unfolds elegantly towards a beautifully long finish.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as smoked salmon, oysters or grilled fish. It also matches beautifully with dishes from French gastronomy such as pike quenelles, scallops, as well as fresh goat cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. A light decanting may be considered in its youth. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2030.
The elegance and minerality of a great Chablis 1er Cru by Louis Jadot
The estate
Founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy, France. Historically a négociant-éleveur, the estate has built up an exceptional vineyard of more than 200 hectares. Now owned by the American group Kobrand Fine Wine & Spirits, the house continues to be run with passion by the Gagey family. Renowned worldwide, notably thanks to its famous label adorned with the head of Bacchus, the estate combines the strength of a great house with the philosophy of a domaine, with a gradual transition towards environmentally friendly practices.
The vineyard
Located on the right bank of the Serein, the Montée de Tonnerre climat is one of the most renowned in Chablis, close to the grands crus. The vines flourish on soils typical of the Kimmeridgian, composed of an alternation of clay-limestone marls and hard limestones, giving the wine its highly characteristic minerality.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by warm and relatively dry weather conditions. These high temperatures enabled the berries to reach an excellent level of ripeness, while maintaining moderate yields and beautiful natural acidity.
Winemaking and aging
The vinification of the Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" 2022 is carried out with great care to preserve the pure expression of the terroir. Fermentation takes place in vats or barrels, followed by aging on fine lees. This method brings volume and aromatic complexity, without marking the wine with excessive oakiness.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay
