Description

An aromatic and complex Burgundy red wine

The estate

The largest wine estate in Burgundy, Domaine Louis Latour boasts a winemaking history of over 200 years. Spread across the finest plots in Premier and Grand Cru vineyards from the Côte de Beaune to the Côte de Nuits, the estate's 50-hectare vineyard produces a range of wines from 130 appellations, each authentically and elegantly expressing the characteristics of their original terroir.

A renowned Burgundy estate, Louis Latour has been actively committed to environmentally conscious and respectful viticulture since 1996.

The vineyard

The village of Aloxe-Corton is situated on a stony hillside at the foot of the Corton mountain. In 1862, the name of one of the climates, "Corton," was added to Aloxe. The vines, averaging 30 years old and planted on subsoils composed of clay, sand, and alluvial gravel, produce an Aloxe-Corton wine renowned for its elegance and intense aromatic expression.

The vintage

The year begins with a cool and wet winter, followed by an exceptionally warm spring in late March and early April, promoting early bud break. From April 5th to 8th, a cold snap down to -8°C heavily impacts the vineyard. While the weather conditions from June to early August increase disease pressure, flowering is uniform. The end of August, milder and drier, ensures optimal ripeness for the berries spared from frost.

Winemaking and aging

Harvested by hand, the grapes undergo fermentation in open vats. 100% malolactic fermentation. Aging lasts 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new) from the estate's cooperage.
