Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of the Grand Ardèche Chardonnay 2024 by Louis Latour
Tasting
Appearance
This white wine displays a bright and clear appearance, revealing a delicate pale yellow hue enhanced by subtle golden reflections.
Nose
Intense and beautifully complex, the aromatic bouquet opens with indulgent pastry notes of brioche and vanilla. These fragrances blend harmoniously with stone fruit aromas, such as fresh apricot, and dried fruit notes reminiscent of almond.
Palate
The attack reveals a full, generous and velvety texture. The palate unfolds delicious notes of almond paste and vanilla, perfectly balanced by a pleasant tension on the finish that brings freshness and remarkable persistence.
Food and wine pairings
Thanks to its rich and structured profile, this wine pairs wonderfully with fine fish in creamy or buttery sauces, such as sole meunière, roasted cod or turbot. It also makes an ideal companion for roasted or braised poultry, mushroom risotto with cream, as well as bloomy-rind or semi-hard cheeses such as Brie or a young Comté.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the Grand Ardèche Chardonnay 2024, it is recommended to serve it chilled, at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. A light aeration, or even decanting, will help release its full aromatic complexity and perfectly integrate its oaky notes.
A rich and aromatic white wine from the Rhône Valley
The estate
Founded in 1797 in Beaune, Maison Louis Latour is a historic institution of Burgundy. Still independent, it remains under the leadership of its current owners, the Latour family. At the head of an exceptional fifty-hectare vineyard encompassing the largest Grand Cru estate in the Côte d'Or, the property combines tradition and innovation. Drawing on its expertise, it has extended its influence beyond its native lands, notably towards the terroirs close to the Rhône Valley, establishing itself in the Ardèche to reveal new expressions of great white wines.
The vineyard
Sourced from the IGP Ardèche appellation, this wine comes from vines planted on the hillsides of the Ardèche, around the village of Alba-la-Romaine. This terroir enjoys a sunny climate influenced by both Mediterranean and continental conditions, offset by cool nights. The soils, composed of clay and limestone chalk, provide the vines with the perfect balance between vigour, water retention and minerality, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness while preserving a beautiful tension.
Winemaking and ageing
Crafted with the traditional Burgundian expertise of the house, the Grand Ardèche Chardonnay 2024 benefits from meticulous and precise winemaking. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, incorporating work on the lees, which gives the wine its aromatic complexity, its full structure and its delicately oaky and vanilla-tinged notes.
