Description

An elegant and complex Corton Grand Cru red wine by Louis Latour

The estate

Founded in 1797, Domaine Louis Latour is currently run by the family’s 11th generation and is headed by Louis-Fabrice Latour. As a wine merchant and grower, Louis Latour owns the largest estate of Grands Crus in Burgundy.

The vineyard

In 1891, the Latour family acquired the château located off the Rue des Corton, which had previously belonged to the Grancey family. Produced only during exceptional years, this Château Corton Grancey Grand Cru by Louis Latour comprises grapes from five climats (Bressandes, Perrières, Grèves, Clos du Roi and Chaumes). These vineyards are 40 years old on average and are planted on marl and limestone soils.

Vinification and ageing

Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, traditional fermentation is carried out in open-top vats, along with a 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (20% of which are new oak) from the cooperage of Louis Latour. Following this plot-by-plot ageing process, only the finest barrels make up the blend of this great Corton wine.
