Description
A rich and delicate Echezeaux Grand Cru
The estate
Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is currently managed by the family’s 11th generation, headed by Louis-Fabrice Latour. As a wine merchant and producer, Maison Louis Latour owns the largest estate of Grands Crus in Burgundy.
The vineyard
Louis Latour's 2014 Echezeaux Grand Cru comprises grapes that stem from a parcel located above Clos Vougeot, an iconic site in the Côte de Nuits. Formerly owned by the Abbey of Cîteaux, this terroir located between Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot produces Echezeaux wines that are known for their finesse, structure and exceptional ageing potential. The vines are 40 years old on average and are planted on clay, chalk and gravel subsoils.
Vinification and ageing
Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, fermentation is carried out in the traditional way in open vats with 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (100% new) from the cooperage of the Maison Louis Latour.
