Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" 2021 by Louis Latour

Tasting

Color
Beautiful pale gold and luminous.

Nose
The bouquet reveals a fine aromatic complexity with notes of vanilla and honeysuckle, creating a refined and expressive profile.

Palate
The attack is round, mirroring the nose: fresh almond reappears, highlighted by subtle honey aromas. The finish is persistent and warm.

Food and Wine Pairings

This Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru perfectly accompanies sole meunière, seafood, foie gras or Bresse chicken. It also pairs very well with a selection of aged cheeses.

Serving and Cellaring

This wine is best enjoyed at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. It can be enjoyed now but will evolve beautifully until around 2028.

The Roundness and Aromatic Persistence of a Premier Cru blanc de Bourgogne

The Estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour at Aloxe-Corton, the Maison Louis Latour has for over two centuries upheld a family tradition of excellence in Bourgogne. Owner of the largest Grands Crus estate in the Côte d'Or, this independent house cultivates prestigious terroirs in Aloxe-Corton and the Côte de Beaune. Heirs to ancestral coopering know-how, the current owners combine tradition with mastery of the great Burgundian terroirs on emblematic parcels.

The Vineyard

The climat "La Garenne" of Puligny-Montrachet benefits from a privileged location just above "Champgains", on limestone and marl soils with ideal southeast exposure. This terroir takes its name from a walled wood historically used for small game hunting. The Chardonnay vines, averaging 35 years of age, thrive on these chalk and scree soils, with controlled yields of 40 hl/ha and exclusively manual harvesting.

Vinification and Aging

Traditional vinification in oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place for 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with 50% new oak and a medium toast, allowing the wine to develop its complexity while preserving the expression of the terroir.

Grape Variety

100% Chardonnay.
