The authentic expression of a great white wine from Puligny-Montrachet
The estate
Officially founded in 1797 and based in Aloxe-Corton in Burgundy, the Louis Latour House is a family-run, independent institution. The estate spans 48 hectares, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru, representing the largest concentration of these prestigious terroirs in the region. Today, Florent Latour heads the estate, supported by Eléonore Latour and technical director Christophe Deola. A dedicated advocate of sustainable viticulture, this Burgundian estate also stands out for owning its own cooperage and its historic gravity-fed winery, in operation since 1830.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the illustrious village of Puligny-Montrachet, nestled at the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, thrive on soils composed of limestone and scree, giving the wine its distinctive minerality. Yields are kept in check at 45 hectolitres per hectare and the harvest is carried out by hand to preserve the integrity and optimal quality of the fruit.
Vinification and ageing
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are sorted and pressed immediately without destemming. The fermentation of this Puligny-Montrachet Village 2024 takes place traditionally in oak barrels, where full malolactic fermentation is also completed. Ageing then continues for 8 to 10 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, crafted by the House's own cooperage. This ageing process incorporates 15% new barrels, with the remainder made up of older vessels, in order to preserve the pure expression of the terroir.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
