Tasting

Nose
The nose combines fruity fragrances (black fruits, crushed blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry) and floral (violet) with subtle vanilla, spicy and pastry notes.

Palate
A concentrated and aromatic attack precedes a palate whose creamy texture and fine tannins are supported by aromas of black tea, liquorice and dark chocolate up to a long and persistent finish.

Cellaring

This Californian wine can be cellared until around 2034.

The estate

Symbol of a common dream, Opus One was born from the ambition of two illustrious names in wine, Baron Philippe de Rothschild from Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, iconic winemaker of Napa Valley.

The vineyard

Becoming a true legend of Californian wines, Opus One comes from vineyards located in the heart of the Oakville appellation. A true "Grand Cru", Opus One embodies the excellence of two wine traditions united with the aim of achieving the quintessence of a unique vintage, of impeccable quality.

The vintage

A cool and wet start to the cycle slowing down bud burst is counterbalanced by warmer conditions in April-May, promoting progressive and homogeneous growth. Subsequently, low rainfall leads to a reduction in yields before a particularly hot summer.

Vinification and ageing

19-day maceration. Ageing for about 19 months in French oak barrels.
