2012 Corton Grand Cru, Burgundy
It is a monopole belonging to Domaine du Pavillon of Albert Bichot, the Clos des Maréchaudes gets its name from the foot of Aloxe Corton that used to be marshy and nicknamed Mareschaut in old French.
This 2012 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Maréchaudes of Domaine du Pavillon displays an intense ruby-tinted colour. The nose gives off vanilla, grilled, or even raspberry fragrances. The attack is round, full-bodied and strong. This wine offers good harmony between the terroir richness and finesse, as well as dense tannins.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2012 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Marechaudes is a monopole belonging to Maison Albert Bichot. The nose is fragrant and lifted with crushed violets and hints of cassis - a generous and outgoing bouquet, like a distant relative of Bonnes-Mares. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, rounded tannins forming the basis of this grand cru that is more feminine than others in Corton. There is good weight in the mouth with white pepper lingering on the aftertaste. Fine - but it will need 4 or 5 years to soften.
