Description

A fresh and complex Chianti Classico wine

The estate

With a rich history going back several centuries, Tenuta Pèppoli was acquired by Marchesi Antinori in 1985, the year of the 600th anniversary of the family estate, which has become an essential name among the great wines of Tuscany over the vintages. Antinori-Pèppoli produces great Italian wines known for their pure and vibrant expression of fruit and intense floral aromas. Since 2013, the vinification of Pèppoli grapes has been carried out within the Marchesi Antinori estate's facilities.

The vineyard

Antinori-Pèppoli, a benchmark among the great Tuscan wines, oversees a vineyard of 100 hectares, 50 of which are dedicated to the production of Pèppoli Chianti Classico DOCG.

The vintage

A seasonal winter preceded a cool and rainy spring. The summer was hot and dry, with rainy spells that advanced a good grape ripeness.

Winemaking and ageing

The grapes were harvested plot by plot, then de-stemmed and lightly crushed before being vinified in stainless steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out at 26-28°C in order to develop the aromatic expression while preserving the fruity and floral notes of each variety. Maceration lasted 10 to 15 days and was carried out with care in order to bring about the best  extraction of soft and supple tannins. The blending was carried out after the malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for 9 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and a small percentage in vats.

Blend

Sangiovese
Merlot
Syrah.
