Description

The freshness and finesse of a Tuscan red wine

The estate

In the shadow of the majestic Tuscan hills lies Casanova di Neri, a renowned winery where tradition blends harmoniously with innovation. The estate was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri and is now run by his son Giacomo, who has inherited the same love of wine and terroir as his father. Here, every bottle is a reflection of the year it was produced, and bears witness to a relentless quest for quality and authenticity.

The vineyard

Cerretalto 2012 from Casanova di Neri is a Tuscan wine that stems from a terroir terroir perched on the gentle slopes of Montalcino. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of between 250 and 400 metres, benefiting from the complex interaction between the microclimate and the soils composed of clay-limestone marl.

Winemaking and ageing

The grapes were harvested by hand at the end of September and beginning of October, followed by sorting before and after de-stemming. Spontaneous fermentation, without the addition of yeast, and maceration assisted by frequent pumping over, took place in wooden truncated-cone vats at a controlled temperature for 29 days. After 36 months in barrel, this Brunello di Montalcino wine was aged for a further 24 months in bottle.
