Description
A rich and well-rounded red wine from Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
"San Lorenzo" from Castello di Ama is a red wine made from a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 13% Merlot and 7% Malvasia Nera. Produced in the prestigious Chianti Classico Gran Selezione appellation, this cuvee expresses a terroir of clay and stony limestones. The wine is aged for 12 years in fine-grained oak barrels, 20% in new barrels and the rest in barrels of two previous wines.
With its dark ruby-red colour and purple reflections, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione "San Lorenzo" 2013 from Castello di Ama reveals fruity aromas, including rich forest fruits and plums, combined with notes of ripe fruit and jam. The second nose exudes spicy notes of cinnamon and clove, along with tobacco and leather, with a toasted touch. The wine offers a delicate attack on the palate and velvety tannins follow. A rich, round, persistent and elegant wine.
The organoleptic qualities described here are only valid for the year in which the wine was tasted. Naturally, the wine is expected to evolve in the bottle throughout its life, resulting in changes in some characteristics described in this tasting note.
