Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Cristal and 2 Flutes 2013 by Louis Roederer
Tasting
Appearance
The robe displays a golden hue, enhanced by delicate luminous highlights.
Nose
Intense and complex, the nose reveals aromas of yellow fruits (mirabelle plum), juicy sun-drenched fruits (nectarine), citrus zest (candied orange) and dried fruits (hazelnut) with subtly toasted accents. It seduces with a powdery olfactory impression, at once sweet, chalky and refined.
Palate
Ample and generous, the palate captivates through a subtly vibrant effervescence, offering silky, dense and juicy nuances on the palate.
A reflection of its exceptional terroir, this cuvée stands out for its assertive chalky freshness. Lively and savoury, the sweetness reinforces the precision of a palate that harmoniously combines elegance and power. Tannins of remarkable finesse blend indulgently into a flavourful, saline finish.

The estate
Established in 1776 in Reims, the Champagne Louis Roederer House has managed to remain a family-owned and independent company. After more than two centuries of history, it is still in the hands of one and the same family. Today led by Frédéric Rouzaud, representative of the seventh generation, the House of Louis Roederer shines throughout the world as a symbol of Champagne excellence, thanks to cuvées crafted with the care and precision of an artist.
The vineyard
With some 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer estate draws its distinctiveness from a remarkable vineyard, composed exclusively of Grands and Premiers Crus spread across the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A true kaleidoscope of terroirs, this vineyard unfolds across 410 parcels that convey all the variety and richness of Champagne soils.
The wine
An emblematic cuvée of the House, first conceived in 1876 at the request of the Tsar of Russia, Cristal is blended from 45 exceptional lieux-dits, scattered across 7 Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs.
This gift box contains one bottle of Cristal 2013 as well as two elegant flutes.
The vintage
The 2013 vintage will remain in memory for its particularly late growing cycle. A prolonged winter gave way to a dull and hesitant spring. It was not until the first days of July that flowering reached its full expression, an uncommon occurrence in Champagne.
Remarkable summer conditions, combining generous sunshine, high temperatures and moderate rainfall, allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. Harvested under the cool mildness of autumn, the picking gave rise to a 2013 vintage champagne of great elegance and vivacity.
Vinification and aging
Vinification is carried out in oak barrels for 32%. The dosage of this Champagne Cristal 2013 by Louis Roederer stands at 8 g/litre.
Blend
Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%).
