Nose
The nose reveals lovely complexity, combining fine spices with red and black fruits (cherry, blackcurrant), lifted by elegant floral notes of violet.

The vibrancy and structure of a Premier Cru from the Côte de Beaune
The estate
Founded in Beaune in 1720 by Edme Champy, a cooper, Champy is recognized as the oldest négociant-éleveur house in Burgundy. Since 2016, it has belonged to the AdVini group and farms 21 hectares in the Côte de Beaune, from Volnay to Corton-Charlemagne. Committed to more responsible viticulture, the house now boasts 50% of its vineyards certified organic and 50% certified Haute Valeur Environnementale. Awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label in 2021, Champy combines a historic heritage with a modern vision, and remains the only production site still operating in the heart of Beaune’s old town.
The vineyard
The Pernand-Vergelesses 1er cru « Ile des Vergelesses » comes from plots located in the commune of Pernand-Vergelesses, at the northern end of the Côte de Beaune. The very hilly vineyard spans elevations between 250 and 350 meters. The vines are rooted in clay-limestone marl soils, which give the wine its mineral, structured signature.
Vinification and aging
The Pernand-Vergelesses 1er cru « Ile des Vergelesses » grapes were harvested by hand. Cold pre-fermentation maceration preceded a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts. Maceration lasted around three weeks. Aging then continued for 14 months in eight barrels, with 25% new oak.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir
