Château Angélus has risen to the top of the Bordeaux Crus, which ranks among the world's greatest wines and has become a legend on the Right Bank. This First Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion owes its global influence to the winemaking genius of Hubert de Boüard de Laforest. As an emblematic Bordeaux visionary, he has brilliantly managed to pass the destiny of Angelus to Stephanie Boüard-Rivoal, and to Thierry Grenié-de Boüard who joined in 2017.
Though a challenging and early vintage, the Angélus 2017 comes out on top victorious. As the saying goes “great wines come from great terroirs” and the Angélus vineyard is exceptionally located at the centre of a natural amphitheatre south of Saint-Émilion. The estate’s first wine is a symbol of a perfectly orchestrated vintage that highlights the responsiveness, precision and technical skills of the technical team that triumphed over the year’s challenging events.
The Angélus 2017 is adorned with a deep, concentrated colour. The intense and pure bouquet charms the nose with its vibrant, aromatic fruit. The precise attack wraps the palate in a tasty succession of sensations that reveal the full extent of this vintage’s personality. There is a touch of freshness on the palate that has an airy structure with delicate, silky tannins that stretch until the persistent finish. Angélus has never been so radiant.
