A magnificently structured Mercurey 1er Cru

A Pinot Noir red wine produced in the Mercurey 1er Cru appellation, the Mercurey 1er Cru "Clos des Ruelles" from Château de Chamirey is a cuvée produced from a 2.5-hectare monopole. The brick red soil reveals a terroir concentrated in ferric oxide. The ageing of the wine is carried out for an average of 15 months, exclusively in oak barrels (25% of which are new).

The Mercurey 1er Cru "Clos des Ruelles" 2015 of Château de Chamirey presents a magnificently intense ruby-garnet colour. The nose is rather discreet, with subtle notes of black fruit. The wine is patient and shows a beautiful structure on the palate, presenting tannins that combine firmness and power. To be consumed before 2019-2020.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2015 Mercurey 1er Cru Les Ruelles is a superb wine that's crying out for some time in the cellar. Notes of sweet red cherry, plum preserve, incipient forest floor and a creamy but judicious framing of new oak precede a supple, medium to full-bodied wine with lovely succulent acids and exceptionally ripe, velvety tannins. The combination of ripe fruit and racy acids is already quite dramatic, but this needs some time to shed its baby fat and reveal its terroir. Very promising indeed.
