The balance and freshness of a Côtes de Provence La Londe rosé
Founded in 1929 by André Chevillon on the site of a winegrowing estate that was cultivated since Antiquity, Château Sainte-Marguerite stretches across the terroir of Londe-Les-Maures, a village on the Var coast. In 1955 the estate was named a Cru Classé de Provence which highlighted the authenticity, diversity and quality of its wines. In 1977, Brigitte and Jean-Pierre Fayard took over the estate, which was then 11 hectares. Since 2022, the Fayard family has linked with Pernod Ricard to pursue the development of Sainte Marguerite in Provence and internationally.
Fantastique 2022 is a Côtes de Provence La Londe wine that stems from the Sainte Marguerite House vineyard, grown organically on a on a siliceous clay filtering soil, structured with pebbles and broken quartz.
The 2022 vintage was difficult in terms of weather conditions and was subject to increased monitoring. The spring and summer were marked by drought. Temperatures were very high in July and August. However, the harvest revealed a good sugar-acid balance thanks to continuous ripening.
Winemaking and ageing
Cold skin maceration before pressing. Temperature-controlled vinification. Aged in vats on fine lees. Fining and filtration before bottling.
Characteristics and tasting tips for Fantastique 2022 from Château Sainte Marguerite
The wine is light-filled, of a seashell pink colour with golden highlights.
The nose gives a perfect balance between the aromatic richness of vine peach, raspberry and plum, as well as exotic scents of guava and papaya.
The palate delights with its intense freshness, citrus and flower (rose, a hint of jasmine) notes as well as a delicious, lasting finish.
The wine can be enjoyed today, and can be laid down for 5 years.
