Description
The elegance and aromatic richness of a Saint-Émilion wine
The Estate
Tracing its origins back to the 18th century, Château Soutard takes its name from a very old lieu-dit situated on the only limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. Château Soutard has been owned since 2006 by the insurance company AG2R LA MONDIALE.
The vineyard
Château Soutard oversees a single-block 30-hectare vineyard, of which 21.14 hectares are in production. With an average age of 20 years, the vines are planted predominantly on the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion as well as on clayey slopes and sandy footslopes.
Vinification and ageing
After harvest, the grapes undergo a stay in a cold room. A density sorting is carried out before a gravity transfer of the grapes into thermoregulated wooden vats as well as double-walled conical stainless steel tanks. The ageing is carried out in French oak barrels (55% new barrels, 30% once-used barrels) and 15% in foudre.
Blend
Merlot (76%), Cabernet Franc (14%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) and Malbec (4%).
