2011 Corton Grand Cru (Pinot Noir)
Domaine de la Pousse d’Or’s 2011 Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi truly reflects the expression of Pinot Noir, the unique terroir, and meticulous winemaking process. The east-facing vineyard lies on 1.45 hectare (3.58 acres), rich limestone soil. This Burgundy vintage aged 18 months on lees in oak (with 30% new wood). This Corton 1er Cru charms with roundness and pleasant fruit. The gorgeous garnet colour is intense. The nose reveals delicate aromas with commanding spices. The palate is powerful, full, and fruity.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Corton Clos du Roi '11 has a very attractive bouquet with redcurrants, strawberry pastilles and attractive floral scents (wilted rose petals and a sprig of wild heather.) The palate is succulent on the entry, comparatively fleshy, with good backbone toward the focused, gently spiced finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. This is a finely crafted Clos du Roi that should age with style.
