Domaine du Château de Meursault : Meursault Village "du Château" 2018

A fine, complex and refined Burgundy white wine

The producer

In the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in Meursault, the Château de Meursault is one of the legendary wine estates in Burgundy. With a history of over 1000 years, Château de Meursault is a true Burgundian gem, now owned by the Halley family.

The vineyard

The Château de Meursault watches over an exceptional vineyard in the Côte-d'Or, spread over 65 hectares from Puligny-Montrachet to Aloxe-Corton.

The wine

Château de Meursault owns a 2.8-hectare vineyard in the Meursault terroir. The 2018 Meursault Village "du Château" wine by the Domaine du Château de Meursault comprises a blend of five east and south-east facing plots located at the bottom and in middle of the hillside. This terroir is unique due its numerous soil types (clay-limestone, stony, calcareous alluvium, brown calcareous).

The vinification and ageing

The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted. The vinification is carried out in a plot by plot manner in order to enhance the expression of each terroir. Alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels, as well as ageing on fine lees for a period of 12 to 15 months in barrels (35% new barrels as well as first and second fill barrels).

The blend

This 2018 Meursault Village "du Château" by the Domaine du Château de Meursault is a 100% Chardonnay.

The tasting

This Meursault Village "du Château" 2018 by the Domaine du Château de Meursault can be cellared until around 2025 in order to fully develop its aromatic range.
