Wine Spectator

Bruce Sanderson

This aromatic red reveals rose, sandalwood, cherry and spice aromas and flavors, allied to a silky texture. Elegant and juicy, with terrific balance and a superlong, mineral-tinged finish. So polished and stylish, you could enjoy this now, but it will improve over time. Best from 2026 through 2045. 66 cases imported.

What a stunning fragrance this Corton has, with ripe damson, pomegranate and floral notes interacting in a very exciting way with the wild-herb notes. Very concentrated and focused, without any sense of weight, the finish incredibly vibrant and mineral. Really lifts off at the very long finish. Drink or hold.

Neal Martin

The 2020 Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru has a more fruit-driven bouquet than Mallard's Corton Renard: plummy, mulberry and light iris flower scents unfold in the glass, impressive in terms of presence. The palate is medium-bodied with thick, juicy tannins. This is quite a bold and fleshy Corton, though it feels a little over-extracted and consequently is missing freshness and delineation on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Bettane+Desseauve

Tender and floral, the sometimes severe Corton style has been tamed in this wine, which could already appeal when young. But it has real depth; it will age well and deserves to.
