La Chablisienne : Chablis 1er cru "Mont de Milieu" 2014

The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu has a straightforward bouquet that doesn’t quite deliver the terroir expression you might hope for from this vintage. The palate is fresh on the attack, quite rounded in texture like a 2015, with a resinous, waxy finish that needs more tension. Easy-drinking, but not an intellectual Chablis.

A more fleshed-out attack on the palate than the montée-de-tonnerre, with power and concentration; perhaps more about volume than minerality in this vintage, and the rise should go further.

Once again, Mont de Milieu is our favorite cuvée in the estate’s range of premiers crus: saline, ripe and full, this lively wine shows completeness, polish and density.
