Characteristics and Tasting Tips of the Chablis Grand Cru "Château Grenouilles" 2022 by La Chablisienne

Tasting

Color
The color reveals itself in a bright pale gold, clear and luminous, enriched with subtle silver highlights.

Nose
The nose opens discreetly with fresh aromas of lemon, citrus fruits and a hint of anise. After aeration, the bouquet gains in complexity, unveiling softer notes of vanilla and coconut.

Palate
The attack is spicy and balanced, driven by well-ripe fruit. The finish, taut and dynamic, stands out for its lovely persistence. This wine displays great freshness and excellent ageing potential.

Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs ideally with salmon tartare with pink peppercorns, sea bass in a citrus salt crust or a pike soufflé accompanied by pochouse sauce.

The refinement and aromatic expression of a Grand Cru Burgundy white wine

The estate

Founded in 1923 thanks to the work of Abbé Balitrand, the cooperative cellar La Chablisienne is the largest producer of Chablis wines. From Petit Chablis, to Chablis, through Chablis Premiers Crus and Chablis Grands Crus without forgetting the cuvées of the legendary Château Grenouille, La Chablisienne produces around thirty different cuvées and crus, allowing Burgundy wine enthusiasts to discover the multiple personalities of Chablis wines.

The vineyard

The "Château Grenouilles" is a Chablis wine from a single 7.2-hectare vineyard. The vines benefit from an ideal southwest exposure facing the village of Chablis on the right bank of the Serein. With an average age of 40 years, the vines are planted on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils.

The wine

Legendary, the Château Grenouilles Grand Cru cuvée is the rarest of the Chablis Grands Crus. This legendary white wine offers one of the finest demonstrations of the minerality of the Chablis terroir. This wine has an exceptional ageing potential, allowing it to develop beautifully over time.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes used for the Chablis Grenouilles Grand Cru cuvée from La Chablisienne are rigorously selected and hand-harvested. Alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in barrels and tanks.
This Chablis Grand Cru is aged in tank and barrels for 14 months.

Grape variety

This Chablis Grand Cru "Château Grenouilles" 2022 by La Chablisienne is 100% Chardonnay.
