Decanter

Hefty cherry nose, powerful rather than elegant, as one would expect from this site. Firm, robust attack on the quite muscular palate. There's flesh as well as tannin, and ample structure that should assure a long life. Perhaps lacks a little acidity on the finish, but that's a quibble.

Description

A red wine from Clos Vougeot with splendid tannins

Produced within the 52 hectares of the Clos Vougeot appellation, the Clos Vougeot Grand Cru from Louis Latour is a single-varietal red wine made from Pinot Noir. The vines benefit in particular from a terroir of clay, chalk and gravel soils.

On tasting, the Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2015 from Louis Latour reveals an intense red colour of great depth with garnet highlights. The nose shows great complexity, offering aromas of blackcurrant, mocha and undergrowth, complemented by a subtle floral note of violet. On the palate, the wine is powerful and ample, with magnificent tannins that blend beautifully with flavourful hints of cherry and coffee, which linger for a long time.
