A great white Burgundy by Louis Latour
The estate
Officially founded in 1797, the Louis Latour House is a historic family institution located in Aloxe-Corton. This exceptional estate oversees a 48-hectare vineyard in Burgundy, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru. Now led by Christophe Deola, estate director, alongside Eléonore Latour heading the brand, the estate perpetuates an ancestral expertise. Independent, it stands out for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and its determination to offer accessible wines, all while preserving the excellence of its great terroirs.
The vineyard
This Puligny-Montrachet comes from the "Sous le Puits" Climat, located at the top of the Blagny hill. Facing south-east, the vines, averaging 35 years of age, thrive on soils composed of clay and limestone. This high-altitude terroir benefits from optimal sunshine and excellent drainage. Yields are kept moderate to favour the concentration of aromas, and the harvest is carried out by hand with the utmost respect for the environment.
The vintage
The 2024 year is characterised by cooler climatic conditions. This weather allowed the berries to reach optimal physiological ripeness while avoiding an excessive accumulation of sugars, thereby preserving a lovely freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
After a gentle two-hour pressing, the juices of this Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Sous le Puits" 2024 begin a rapid fermentation in stainless steel tanks thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine is then transferred into French oak barrels (50% of which are new), made by the House's own cooperage, for an extended fermentation. Ageing on the lees lasts between 8 and 10 months, a period during which the natural malolactic fermentation takes place. Two rackings by gravity are carried out before bottling.
Grape variety
Chardonnay (100%).
