The authentic expression of a great Vosne-Romanée
The estate
Founded in 1797, Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. Historically based in Aloxe-Corton, this prestigious brand shines around the world thanks to its exceptional 48-hectare estate, a large part of which is classified as Grand Cru. Today led by Florent Latour, supported by Eléonore Latour, the family estate carries on ancestral expertise spanning twelve generations. A pioneer of sustainable viticulture, the estate is ISO 14001 certified, illustrating its deep commitment to respecting terroirs and biodiversity.
The vineyard
Located in the prestigious Vosne-Romanée appellation, this climat enjoys an ideal south-east exposure, at an altitude varying between 270 and 310 metres. The vines, around thirty years old on average, thrive on a subsoil of ferruginous clay and limestone, providing excellent drainage. The estate favours a respectful approach with controlled yields of around 38 hl/ha and entirely manual harvesting to preserve the quality of the berries.
The vintage
The 2013 vintage stands out for climatic conditions that favoured slow ripening. The red grape harvest took place in early October. This classic vintage produced berries with lovely freshness and moderate alcohol levels.
Winemaking and ageing
To craft this Vosne-Romanée 1er cru "Les Beaux Monts" 2013, the berries undergo traditional fermentation in open vats, allowing optimal extraction, followed by a complete malolactic fermentation. The wine then benefits from meticulous ageing for 10 to 12 months in medium-toasted French oak barrels, 40 % of which are new.
Grape variety
100 % pinot noir
