Méo-Camuzet Delivers a Tribute Cuvée Brimming with Refinement and Balance
The Estate
Established in the early 20th century by Étienne Camuzet in Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits, the Méo-Camuzet estate spans 18.1 hectares. Since 1989, Jean-Nicolas Méo has been at the helm, drawing on his training under Henri Jayer. This Burgundian house upholds a proud Jayerian heritage, producing wines that combine finesse and depth.
The Vineyard
The Clos de Vougeot enjoys a privileged position at the summit of the appellation, at the foot of the château. This unique and continuous nearly 3-hectare parcel has balanced yet shallow soils, with only 40 centimeters of topsoil over a subsoil of stones and altered rock. The vines—with one-third planted in 1920, one-third in the 1960s, and the remainder between 1970 and 1980—develop deep roots essential to expressing this exceptional terroir.
The Wine
This "Cuvée Étienne Camuzet" is a tribute by Jean-Nicolas Méo to his ancestor, Étienne Camuzet, who was a deputy of the Côte d’Or and also owner of the Château du Clos de Vougeot. This great Burgundian red wine is crafted from a rigorous barrel selection..
The Vintage
The 2022 vintage in Bourgogne is marked by unique climatic conditions that promoted early ripening of the grapes, yielding pure aromatic expression and beautiful natural concentration.
Winemaking and Aging
The winemaking of the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 favors a more intense extraction than average, notably through punch-downs, to enhance length. The aging especially benefits from Tronçais new oak, allowing the wine to quickly find its balance. A slightly extended aging reveals the full depth of this exceptional cuvée.
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir.
