A Burgundian Grand Cru Combining Finesse and Complexity from Domaine Méo-Camuzet
The Estate
Established in the early 20th century by Étienne Camuzet in Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits, the Domaine Méo-Camuzet spans 18.1 hectares. Jean-Nicolas Méo has been running the estate since 1989, drawing on his training with Henri Jayer. This Burgundian house perpetuates an acknowledged Jayerian legacy, producing wines that combine finesse and depth.
The Vineyard
The Clos de Vougeot benefits from a privileged position at the top of the appellation, at the foot of the château. This unique, contiguous nearly 3-hectare parcel sits on balanced yet shallow soils, with only 40 centimeters of topsoil resting on a subsoil of stones and weathered rock. The vines, one third of which were planted in 1920, one third in the 1960s and the remainder between 1970 and 1980, develop deep roots necessary to express this exceptional terroir.
The Vintage
The 2022 vintage in Burgundy is characterized by particular climatic conditions that promoted early ripening of the grapes, allowing for a pure aromatic expression and a beautiful natural concentration.
Vinification and Aging
The vinification of the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 favors a more extensive extraction than average, notably through punching down, in order to gain length. The aging particularly benefits from new Tronçais oak, allowing the wine to quickly find its balance. A slightly extended aging reveals the full depth of this exceptional cuvée.
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir.
